Guide to the World’s Best Fishing

by Jerry Ruhlow

Two oceans, beautiful lakes and hundreds of rivers all add up to some of the best fishing for more species at any time of the year than you’re likely to find in such a small and easily accessible area anywhere else in the world.

From the capital city of San José, fishermen are only 30 to 40 minutes flying time from the prime fishing regions on the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, with two national airlines providing daily service. There is hardly anyplace in the country you can’t reach within three to six hours driving time.

Costa Rica’s reputation for incredible fishing is well-justified, but like anyplace in the world, there are never any guarantees. Action will vary with the seasons and prevailing wind, weather, currents and other natural conditions at any given time, and the following breakdown should be considered only as a general guide.

FORT PIERCE, Florida – A new generation and technological advancement in performance and ride that is unsurpassed on the water marks the debut of the Twin Vee 35’ Hydrofoil Supported Catamaran at the 2012 Miami International Boat Show February 17-20.More than two million dollars has gone into the development of this revolutionary high performance Twin Vee Catamaran.

FORT PIERCE - Preston Yarborough, plant manager at Twin Vee Catamarans, cleans a a hydrofoil unit under the hull of a Twin Vee 35 model boat before its installation at the Twin Vee manufacturing plant on Friday. The new hydrofoil boat will be making its appearance at the Miami Boat Show on February 16.

According to Roger Dunshee, founder, Twin Vee Catamarans, Inc., “The new Twin Vee 35’ Hydrofoil Supported Catamaran features a main Hydrofoil fitted between the catamaran hulls that act like any classic foil operating in a fluid medium – the top surface generates a low pressure region, the lower surface a higher pressure region and the mass of water flowing past the foil is deflected downwards.”The result of the pressure differential is lift, generated far more efficiently that the hull planning surfaces are able to do on their own. “Typically, the lift/drag ratio of a planning hull is 4:1 while that of a Twin Vee Hydrofoil Supported Catamaran is 20:1. Smaller trim Hydrofoils are also fitted on the inside of the catamaran tunnel near the transom,” added Dunshee.

All Twin Vee Catamarans are proudly built at the Twin Vee world headquarters in Fort Pierce, Florida. The Twin Vee craftsmen take great care and pride in the production of all Twin Vee products. Twin Vee’s are built using only the highest standard, quality materials.Whether fishing or cruising, Twin Vee boats are best described as without peer in ride and comfort in any conditions. Twin Vee Catamaran’s latest creation to debut in Miami

The 35 Twin Vee Hydrofoil Supported Catamaran offers the affordable quality for which the brand has been known, but with innovation that truly sets it apart from similarly designed catamarans and even vee-hulled boats.

The new Twin Vee incorporates the technology of a stainless steel hydrofoil that supports a portion of the watercraft’s weight during operation.

“The performance of this hull is phenomenal,” said Ernest Denning, a resident of Islamorada who recently drove his Twin Vee from Fort Pierce to his home in the Florida Keys. “I’ve had 50 boats and this thing handles like a Porsche.”

Denning said he ran his boat, rigged with twin Suzuki 300 horsepower outboard motors, 220 miles for 5 hours and 45 minutes, averaged 39 mph and used just 150 gallons of gas. He said he owns a Boston Whaler 32 Outrage and his Twin Vee is larger, wider, faster and burns one-third the fuel.
